FINISHING A COLLECTION IN 3 WEEKS!

Since we go with Salon AIS to Aruba on November 1st we figured: “why don’t we set that date as a deadline for the new collection”.   We shall give you an impression of the hectic daily life of Marga Weimans, from dusk till dawn.  Five perfect silhouettes was  what we aimed for. The silhouettes had to be flawless and gorgeous. The fabrics had to fit the concept and be stunning as well. So you can imagine this was quite the challenge. It is all about the work process, therefore the collection is called “ The making of”.
Working towards a deadline it is all about the planning. If we could stick to it everything would be ready in time. But what if no one abides to this planning? What if other work, like an exhibition late November comes in between?Than this intention becomes a test even more so.
We met every bump on the road you may encounter. Murphy’s law proved itself, but we dealt with it and used it in the creative process. To complicate things even more the designer suggested ‘why don’t we also make a bag’. The bag is the essential item to get things done. It symbolizes the whole idea of the collection in one object. It is sensible, rather ugly, functional and deeply cared for, like a hideous but charming dog. We named her “Plain Jane”.  Add an extra item to the collection, typical Marga Weimans some would say that know her. Marga always aims for the best and always wants more. She doesn’t deliver anything that is not perfect in her eyes. It is not always easy to get the job done in times like that. But we will manage anyway.

The chaos combined with the most beautiful things, that is what Marga Weimans wants to show her audience. When the process was perhaps a bit ugly, what resulted from this is certainly not. We promise.

Together with several Dutch and Aruban designers, Marga Weimans shows her collection in Aruba on the 4th of November. Pictures will be online as soon as possible after the show!!
